The CHF1206CNT500LW is a 50Ω 20W tab-SMD power RF Chip Termination with input via external lead (style-5) and tin-plated finish. Generally, there is one exposed lead while the other lead is tied to the ground plane or to a heat sink. The substrates used in the surface mount Bourns® CHF resistor is aluminium nitride and beryllium oxide. The substrates help to dissipate heat, operation at higher power levels may require a heat sink to handle the dissipation. The power ratings of Bourns® CHF resistor makes it possible to absorb very high pulses in high power situations. The chip termination is used in broadcast, GSM, WCDMA and Wimax transmitters.
