MAX216CWN+ is a low-power, AppleTalk™ interface transceiver. It is designed specifically for communicating with AppleTalk™ Interfaces. It has one differential and one single-ended driver plus one differential and two single-ended receivers, all of which meet the AppleTalk™ interface specifications. The single-ended and differential drivers have ±5V output voltage range when they are active and have thermal shutdown protection against short circuits. The drivers remain in a high impedance state when disabled or shutdown. One single-ended receiver is configured as an inverter and the other is configured as a buffer. The drivers and receivers are disabled during shutdown mode when the quiescent current is reduced to only 30µA. Applications include AppleTalk™ interfaces, Apple printer interfaces, Apple peripheral interfaces and EIA/TIA-232/562 to RS422 conversion.

- Negative supply current of 100µA max at no load, VCC=5V±5%, VEE=-5V±5%, TA=TMIN to TMAX
- Negative supply current of 3mA max at no load, SHDN=0, VCC=5V±5%, VEE=-5V±5%, TA=TMIN to TMAX
- Common mode output voltage is 3V max at R=50 ohm, VD2, VCC=5V±5%, VEE=-5V±5%, TA=TMIN to TMAX
- Receiver input resistance is 12kohm min at -7V ≤ VIN ≤ 7V
- Driver rise / fall time is 60ns typ at RL=100 ohm, CL1=CL2=100pF
- 18 wide SO package
- Operating temperature range from 0°C to 70°C
